First Impressions
The Storm Motor Rev was introduced in December 2025 as part of the innovative RPM series and impresses with a functional, technical design. The heart of this model is the newly developed Equalizer A.I. Core, a symmetrical weight block optimized specifically for controlled energy release. With a 2.59 RG and a 0.027 differential (at 15 pounds), the ball sits in the medium-performance range. The core is wrapped in the RPM Solid Reactive cover, a new Regenerative Polymer Matrix developed for even oil absorption and a more stable ball motion. The matte surface finish is applied at the factory with a 1000-grit Abralon pad, which gives the ball significant traction and makes it visually very present on the lane.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Phaze II, the Motor Rev shows a noticeably calmer and less aggressive overall hook phase. Where the Phaze II starts up much earlier thanks to its low-RG core and creates more total angle, the Motor Rev glides more easily through the heads because of its higher RG. Compared to the Roto Grip Hustle BP, the Motor Rev offers considerably more traction in oil due to its solid surface and coarser grit, but it is less jumpy off the backend than the pearl version of the Hustle. Against the Storm IQ Tour Solid, the Motor Rev is even more controlled through the midlane, since the Equalizer A.I. Core produces even less flare, which results in extremely tight track rings and minimizes unpredictable direction changes.
On the Lanes
The ideal application for the Storm Motor Rev is on lanes with medium oil volume, where control matters more than maximum hook power. Thanks to the RPM technology, the ball's reaction stays very consistent even as the transition progresses, since it is less sensitive to friction differences in the backend. It works excellently if you have a high rev rate and are looking for a way to avoid opening up the lane too far, or if you have lower speed and want to benefit from the early traction of the 1000-grit surface. In the pocket the ball shows very even carry, since it invests its energy into roll rather than into an extreme hook. The Motor Rev is the first choice when the lanes are hard to read and a benchmark ball motion is called for that avoids missed shots caused by overreaction at the breakpoint.
