First Impressions
The Lane Masters Morpheus comes in a striking solid design that blends performance and tradition. The heart of this model is the asymmetric Evolution Core, which features a 2.503 RG, a massive 0.054 differential and a 0.026 intermediate differential. The cover is a strong solid reactive surface, sanded to a dull 2000 Abralon finish out of the box. Thanks to the extremely high intermediate differential, the core design generates a massive amount of asymmetry. These specs should make the ball read the heads early and turn over brutally in the backend.
Comparison
Compared to modern benchmark balls like the Storm Phaze II, the Morpheus is considerably sharper off the spot due to its asymmetric core and offers a far more extreme change of direction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Morpheus delivers a very similar asymmetric, hard-hitting motion. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, the dull solid shell of the Morpheus tends to burn up energy too early. It demands enough oil on the boards to carry its enormous dynamics through to the backend.
On the Lanes
The Lane Masters Morpheus is at its best on heavy oil conditions. It's the logical choice if you need a ball on fresh patterns that grabs hard in the midlane and still produces a massive hook in the backend. The extremely quick reaction helps you play steep angles into the pocket. The ball should maximize carry through its brutal drive. On dry lanes, however, this ball is far too aggressive and uncontrollable.
