BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Momentum (in the Black/Silver/Navy color scheme) is a special release designed primarily for the international market ("Overseas Release") and launched in spring 2022. Visually, the mix of black, silver and navy gives the ball a very technical, modern look. Inside works the powerful Next 3.0 Core, an asymmetric design with very aggressive numbers: a low 2.48 RG, a high 0.052 differential and a pronounced intermediate differential of 0.018 (at 15 lbs). This engine is wrapped in the Reflux Hybrid 2.0R coverstock. Out of the box the surface often comes with a 1500-grit finish, which suggests strong traction, but the hybrid content still leaves enough length for the back end.
Comparison Since this is an international model, it's worth comparing it to the familiar US releases from Columbia 300. In terms of performance, the Momentum sits close to the Columbia 300 Speed (March 2022). Both use asymmetric cores and hybrid covers, but thanks to the Next 3.0 core the Momentum often feels a tick more aggressive in its change of direction than the somewhat rounder Shifter core in the Speed. Compared to the symmetric Columbia 300 Power Torq, the Momentum plays in a higher league: it generates noticeably more flare, reads the lane earlier and offers harder, more defined torque at the breakpoint. It's the "big sister" for situations where the Power Torq reacts too weakly.
On the Lanes The Momentum is an ideal benchmark ball for medium to heavier oil conditions. Thanks to the hybrid cover and the strong asymmetric core, it works excellently as the first ball out of the bag on fresh oil. It provides the traction needed to keep from sliding in the oil, but thanks to the hybrid component it stores enough energy to create a strong move through the pins at the end of the pattern. Its versatility pays off: it can be used on house shots to take advantage of the oil cone in the middle, but it also works on flatter sport patterns where controlling the breakpoint is critical. It closes the gap between pure snow tires and polished balls.
