First Impressions
The Motiv Midnight Sniper was released in May 2018 as a specialized spare ball and impresses with a classy look in Black Pearl and Silver Pearl. What sets this model apart is the TruShot Polythane technology, which according to the manufacturer should combine the skid characteristics of polyester with the high durability of urethane. Inside the ball sits the proven Hollow-Point core, a symmetrical design developed specifically for maximum precision. The specs for a 15-pound ball are a high 2.68 RG and a minimal 0.010 differential. These numbers support an extremely straight path with nearly negligible flare potential. The surface comes out of the box with a 5500 grit Laser Scan Polished finish, which creates a mirror-smooth texture and minimizes friction over the first few boards.
Comparison Compared to conventional plastic balls like the Columbia 300 White Dot or the Brunswick TZone, the Midnight Sniper offers considerably greater longevity. While standard polyester balls often tend to crack around the drilling, the Polythane blend gives the Motiv model a more robust cover. On the Lanes The primary application of the Motiv Midnight Sniper is precisely picking off single pins, especially corner pins like the 7 or the 10. Through the combination of high RG and the Polythane cover, the ball is designed to ignore the oil pattern completely and head straight for the target without any appreciable hook. That makes it an indispensable tool if you have a high rev rate and often struggle with unwanted direction changes on spare shots with conventional balls.
