First Impressions
The Brunswick Melee Redaholic-X presents itself visually in a striking, vibrant Red Pearl. Inside, it utilizes the proven symmetrical Melee Low RG core, which is enhanced by Brunswick's well-known Dynamic Core technology. At a weight of 15 pounds, this core delivers a low RG value of 2.487 paired with a strong differential of 0.050. The coverstock featured is the highly advanced HK22+ Savvy Hook 4.0 Pearl. Out of the box, the surface is prepped with 500 and 1000 grit pads and then brought to a high polish with Factory Compound. This combination is intended to ensure that the ball glides extremely easily and cleanly through the front of the lane, while unleashing a dynamic and continuous motion in the backend.
Comparative Analysis
Compared to its predecessor, the Brunswick Melee Jab Carbon, the Redaholic-X benefits significantly from the new HK22+ base. This gives it even more length through the oil and a noticeably more aggressive reaction once it encounters Friction. When compared to a classic, dull benchmark ball like the Storm Phaze II, the Melee Redaholic-X offers substantially more length and a sharper angle to the pocket. While the Phaze II reads very early and creates a smooth, round, continuous arc, the Redaholic-X saves its energy for the back third of the lane, creating a pronounced yet always controllable change of direction.
Practical Application
The Brunswick Melee Redaholic-X is an excellent ball for medium lane conditions and typical house shots. With its polished pearl surface paired with the symmetrical core, it is the ideal choice for the moment when Transition occurs and the front boards dry out. Bowlers can comfortably move inside with this ball, as it glides effortlessly through the drier areas in the front and retains enough energy to generate a powerful Hook towards the pocket. Additionally, the integrated Dynamic Core technology is designed to optimize Carry and maximize pin action. For players with medium to high rev rates, it serves as a reliable weapon to open up the lane, while lower rev players will benefit from the responsive backend when playing the Friction.
