BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Brunswick Melee Jab Void Black continues the success story of the Melee series in September 2025 with a dark, elegant aesthetic. Visually, a deep "Black Pearl" design dominates, which looks extremely classy on the lane and underscores the aggressive nature of the ball. Inside works the legendary Melee Low RG Symmetric Core (RG 2.487, diff 0.050 at 15 lbs), known for its early rotation and high energy retention. The decisive upgrade, however, is the new cover: Brunswick uses the HK22+ Savvy Hook 5.0 Pearl coverstock here. This further development of the proven HK22 technology has been chemically adjusted to react even faster to friction without sacrificing control in the midlane. The factory finish of 500/1000 Siaair with Crown Factory Compound provides easy length through the heads out of the box and an explosive reaction at the breakpoint.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the Storm Phaze AI, the Melee Jab Void Black shows a slightly rounder but still defined motion. While the Phaze AI often turns the corner very sharply, the Void Black offers a more predictable line thanks to the Melee core, one that is more forgiving of mistakes at the release. Against the 900 Global Zen Gold Label, the Brunswick ball reads the mid boards a bit earlier, which gives it more stability when the oil pattern gets "spotty." Compared to its predecessor, the Brunswick Melee Jab Carbon, the new Savvy Hook 5.0 surface generates noticeably more overall hook and a stronger entry angle into the pocket, which makes the Void Black a clear modernization for today's higher-volume house shots.
On the Lanes
This ball is an all-purpose weapon for medium oil conditions and shines especially when the lane begins to change (transition). Thanks to the polished surface, the Void Black glides effortlessly across broken-down heads, yet grabs the friction so reliably that it also allows deeper angles from far inside on the lane. It is ideal for league bowlers looking for a benchmark ball with pearl characteristics: clean through the front part of the lane, but with enough bite to kick out the corner pins reliably ("carry"). When stronger balls lose energy too early or burn up, the Melee Jab Void Black offers exactly the right mix of length and backend power to still hit the pocket with authority late in the block.
