The Brunswick Melee Jab Midnight Blue arrives in a sharp midnight-blue look and uses the proven Melee Low RG symmetrical core with a 2.487 RG and a 0.050 differential. The cover is the Savvy Hook 3.0 Pearl Reactive coverstock with a 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair / Crown Factory Compound polish. Brunswick's innovative DynamiCore technology should provide greater durability and less compression at impact, which should increase hitting power and create a noticeable difference in sound and pin carry.
Comparison
Side by side, the Melee Jab Midnight Blue is less clean and less flippy than the Brunswick Zenith Pearl, but it clears the heads considerably more easily than both the Zenith and the new Zenith Hybrid. In test comparisons with the Hammer Web Pearl, the Melee Jab showed slightly more length together with a strong backend reaction, and its shape was even the preferred one. The characteristic "hard arc" motion shape sets it apart from other pearl reactive balls in its class.
On the Lanes
The Melee Jab Midnight Blue works excellently on medium oil volumes and offers ideal ball motion for a variety of player types. If you're a power player, you can play straighter through the heads and use the strong backend reaction to get to the pocket, with the angularity still producing high carry later in the session. The length and the smooth, continuous breakpoint make it especially valuable on somewhat drier lane conditions, where longer pearl balls play to their strengths. The ball motion is smooth to the pocket with continuous drive, ideal for medium to medium-dry conditions without uncontrolled jumping.
