First Impressions
The Storm Match stands out with a classy Black and Blue Solid design. At the ball's center works the symmetrical Stinger Core with a 2.550 RG and a low 0.030 differential. The cover is the Reactor Solid Cover, dulled at the factory with a 2000 grit Abralon pad. This combination of a slightly higher RG and low flare potential should let the ball read the heads reliably and develop an extremely smooth, very controllable hook through the midlane that never overreacts. The rough cover provides the necessary hold.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Match Pearl, the Match shows noticeably less length due to its solid cover, along with a gentler, more arcing overall reaction in oil. Against the Storm Phaze II, the Match has a drastically lower differential, which results in a considerably weaker overall hook. When the transition changes the lane and friction increases, the Match's moderate flare keeps the ball from jumping off the breakpoint uncontrollably. It can be used on the lane for a very long time and stays stable.
On the Lanes
The Storm Match is most at home on light to medium lane conditions. It is an excellent option for league bowlers looking for reliable ball motion that isn't overly aggressive. The mild symmetrical core produces an absolutely predictable path, which builds confidence when playing direct lines. The ball should maximize carry through its continuous angle. On extremely heavy oil, however, the weak core dynamics won't be enough to drive dependably into the pocket.
