BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Marvel Maxx Pink is an exclusive international release (often distributed primarily in the Asian market) that came out in February 2023, adding an eye-catching color option to the legendary Marvel series. The ball immediately stands out with its bright "all pink" design. Technically it is built on the indestructible Centripetal core, a symmetrical design with a very low RG (2.48) and a high differential (0.050 at 15 lbs). This core is famous for revving up extremely early and producing a very stable roll phase without "wiggling out." This proven engine is paired with the NRG-2 Pearl Reactive coverstock, polished with Reacta Gloss out of the box. At Storm, the "Maxx" in the name usually indicates the use of nano-technology covers (NRG), which offer more traction in oil than conventional R2S covers despite the polish.
Comparison
Compared directly to the classic Storm Marvel Pearl (which uses R2S Pearl), the Marvel Maxx Pink shows more traction in the midlane thanks to the NRG-2 cover. It doesn't skid as aggressively across oil, but reads the lane earlier, while still providing the typical kick off the backend. Compared to the Storm !Q Tour Ruby, released at nearly the same time, the Marvel Maxx Pink is the clearly stronger ball. The !Q Tour has a lower differential (less flare) and a weaker cover (R2S); the Marvel Maxx Pink generates more overall hook and covers more boards. Next to a Storm Phaze V, the Marvel Maxx Pink comes across as more controllable. The Phaze V (Velocity core) often reacts sharper and later, while the Marvel's Centripetal core produces a rounder, heavier rolling motion that covers up release mistakes better.
On the Lanes
The Marvel Maxx Pink is an excellent ball for medium to heavier oil conditions where you still want to play a shiny surface. It solves the problem of many pearl balls being too sensitive to carrydown (oil pushed down into the backend) and skidding. Thanks to the NRG-2 base, the Marvel Maxx Pink digs through that film of oil but retains enough energy for a powerful hit. It is ideal for the transition, when you're coming off a strong solid (like the Phaze II) and the lane is drying up somewhat, but you don't yet want to switch to weaker balls like the Hy-Road. It lets you move your line inside without losing contact with the lane.
