BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Main Fight immediately draws the eye with its striking two-tone blue solid design. At its center works the massive symmetrical Iron Cross core, which stands out with an extremely high 2.620 RG and a strong 0.043 differential. This core is wrapped in the R4S Solid Reactive coverstock, sanded to a 3000 grit Abralon finish out of the box. The unusually high RG lets the core roll up very late, but the tacky cover should ensure the ball still finds enough traction in the midlane. The concept is focused on an enormously controllable, late, but heavy roll phase.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Storm Phaze II, the Main Fight grabs noticeably later thanks to its much higher RG and offers a far rounder, more arcing reaction. Against a polished ball like the Storm Hy-Road, however, the Main Fight's solid cover delivers considerably more hold in the oil. When friction on the lane increases and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Main Fight loses energy because of its dull surface, despite its high RG. Its hook is very predictable on fresh oil, but on heavily played patterns it often lacks the necessary kick in the backend.
On the Lanes
The Storm Main Fight is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume and to demanding, flat oil patterns. For strokers and tweeners it offers the ability to play the boards with a great deal of safety, since the ball avoids sudden overreaction. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver reliable carry, even on slightly missed shots. Once the lane dries up substantially, though, the rough surface can cause the ball to burn up energy too early and turn over flat. In those moments, a switch to a smoother surface is advisable.
