First Impressions
The Track Lx05 shows up in an extremely menacing black solid color blend as a benchmark option. At the heart of this model beats a symmetric engine with a 2.550 RG and a very low differential. The outer layer consists of the QR-4 Solid Reactive coverstock, dulled at the factory with 500 and 4000 Abralon. This combination of a late-revving engine and the heavy but not overly strong surface should let the ball grab late and deliver a controllable, smooth and flat roll phase.
Comparison
Compared to the Track Mx16, the Lx05 offers noticeably less early traction and a far more arcing, weaker reaction in drier oil. Against the Storm Match Solid, the Lx05 provides similarly heavy midlane control, though with marginally less backend snap due to the extremely low differential. When friction on the lane increases and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, this ball reacts extremely reliably and holds the line.
On the Lanes
The Track Lx05 is ideally suited to lane conditions with extremely short oil or to dry sport patterns. For strokers and tweeners it offers the option of playing direct lines on heavily broken-down patterns, since the surface finds consistent hold in the heads without jumping off the spot. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry, as the ball rolls flat through the pin deck. Once the lane is deeply oiled, however, the ball skids through mercilessly.
