First Impressions
The Track Legion Solid (2022 release) marks the long-awaited return of an absolute fan favorite to the Track lineup. Visually it stays in a dark, almost menacing "Midnight / Oxblood" color scheme that signals immediately: this is a workhorse. Inside, the updated LT-2 core does the work. This symmetrical core delivers a 2.500 RG and a 0.046 differential at 15 lbs. Those numbers define the perfect middle ground — not rolling too early, but with enough flare potential for movement. The upgrade happens in the shell: Track uses the Prime Response Solid coverstock here. Out of the box the surface is finished at 500/1500/3000 Siaair. This matte texture makes the ball build traction as soon as it gets on the lane and produces an extremely predictable motion.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Track Stealth, which is positioned in the lineup as the "big" solid ball, the Legion Solid goes a bit longer and plays softer. While the Stealth (despite being symmetrical) often grabs very early and shows an aggressive roll phase, the Legion Solid offers a more classic benchmark reaction with better energy retention for the backend. Against the Track Kinetic Black Ice, the Legion Solid is the exact opposite: where the Kinetic skids and snaps ("skid-flip"), the Legion reads the midlane and makes an arcing move. Performance-wise it aims squarely at competitors like the Storm Phaze II or the Ebonite Game Breaker 4, combining maximum control with sufficient hook potential.
On the Lanes
The Track Legion Solid is the epitome of a benchmark ball for medium to heavier oil conditions. It should be the first ball out of the bag at a tournament or league night. Its strength is making the oil pattern readable. It smooths out over-reacting backends and finds enough hold on fresh oil not to slide away. It's ideal if you feel your pearl balls are too jumpy ("over/under") but your high-performance balls (like a Paragon) burn up energy too early. Once the lane goes through transition and the heads dry up, however, the Legion Solid will quickly lose punch because it then rolls too early; at that point a switch to a Kinetic or Sensor is advisable.
