First Impressions
The Track Kinetic Platinum shows up in an elegant platinum-colored finish and belongs to one of Track Bowling's proven product lines. At its technical heart works the Shuttle core with a 2.480 RG, a 0.040 differential and a 0.006 mass bias differential in a 15-pound ball. The DR-7 Pearl coverstock is finished with 500/1000/1500 Siaair and polished with Crown Factory Compound. Brunswick Bowling Products' DynamiCore technology should deliver less compression at impact and thereby increase hitting power. The ball was released in March 2021, and the Shuttle core is notable for its low asymmetry, which bridges the gap between symmetric and asymmetric cores.
Comparison
The Kinetic Platinum positions itself as the ideal step down from the Track Proof and Strata lines, and in a direct comparison with the Track Kinetic Amethyst it shows both an earlier and a stronger backend reaction, while against the Track Kinetic Emerald it plays somewhat weaker off the backend but still offers excellent skid/flip motion. The later Track Kinetic Black Ice used a Quick Response surface instead of the Kinetic Platinum's Delayed Response surface in order to get even more change of direction. Many bowlers describe the ball reaction more as a big, even arc than as an abrupt skid/flip move, which makes for a more controlled game. The ball quickly established itself as a reliable option and is still in many experienced bowlers' bags today.
On the Lanes
The Kinetic Platinum is ideally suited to medium oil volumes where a skid/flip reaction is needed. It shows its strengths especially on drier conditions, since it provides length without compromising hitting power, which makes it an excellent choice for later blocks. Bowlers report success on 40-foot sport patterns as well as on various house patterns, with the ball coming into its own particularly when the heads are worn down. Thanks to the asymmetric Shuttle core with DynamiCore technology, it should get down the lane and then turn hard where it's needed. On most easier house conditions it performs very well with strong motion and forgiving carry, even on the occasional high hit.
