BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Motiv Hyper Sniper, released in the summer of 2017, positions itself as a specialized tool for precise spare shooting. Unlike most high-performance balls in the Motiv lineup, this model isn't aimed at hook or pin action, but at maximum straightness. Inside works the symmetrical Hollow Point core. At 15 pounds, this core delivers a very high RG of 2.68 and an extremely low differential of 0.010. These numbers produce an extremely late and barely present rotation, which makes the ball hold its line exceptionally well. The cover uses TruShot Polyurethane Technology. This is a special urethane blend that nevertheless mimics the ball motion of polyester (plastic). Out of the box, the ball comes with a 5500 grit LSP (Laser Scan Polished) finish. This high-gloss polished shell in bright pink and violet pearl creates minimal friction on the lane and guarantees that the ball won't react unintentionally to the boards even under the driest conditions.
Comparison Compared to conventional polyester spare balls such as the Columbia 300 White Dot or the Ebonite Maxim, the Motiv Hyper Sniper offers a significant advantage in material properties. While classic polyester balls are often brittle and prone to cracking when they hit the gutter or the pinsetter, the TruShot urethane of the Hyper Sniper provides considerably greater durability and elasticity without generating any more hook. Compared to its predecessor, the Motiv Arctic Sniper, the technical specifications and the ball motion are identical; the difference is purely cosmetic. Drawing a comparison to "real" urethane balls meant for strike shots, like the Storm Pitch Black, the Hyper Sniper behaves completely differently: where the Pitch Black builds friction and runs a smooth arc, the Hyper Sniper glides almost frictionlessly through the oil and across dry spots, comparable to a piece of ice on glass.
On the Lanes The Motiv Hyper Sniper's role is clearly defined: it serves primarily as a spare ball for single pins, especially corner pins (like the 10 pin for right-handers), where any rotation of the ball would be counterproductive. Thanks to the extremely low friction coefficient of the surface and the stable core, the ball eliminates the influence of the oil pattern almost entirely. That makes it indispensable on extremely dry lanes or in "fried egg" conditions, where even weak reactive balls would hook uncontrollably. It lets you throw diagonally across the entire lane without having to account for transition or dry boards. For tournament players it's an essential part of the arsenal for ensuring consistency on spares, no matter how difficult or broken down the lane conditions are.
