First Impressions
The Storm Hy-Road Solid draws every eye with its deep Black and Red Solid design. At its center works the legendary symmetrical Inverted Fe2 Technology core, which shows a 2.570 RG and a strong 0.046 differential. This core is wrapped in the R2S Solid Reactive coverstock, finished with a dull 2000 grit Abralon surface. The high RG lets the core rotate late, which in combination with the coarse cover should let the ball pass through the heads effortlessly while producing an extremely heavy, steady midlane reaction.

Comparison
In a direct comparison with the original Storm Hy-Road, which uses a hybrid cover, the solid version shows a drastically earlier and far more arcing, more dominant reaction in oil. Compared to the Storm Phaze II, the Hy-Road Solid behaves very similarly, but its late-rotating core often generates a slightly rounder change of direction. Once the transition sets in over the course of the game and friction on the outside boards increases, the solid surface stores energy consistently. It is a strong benchmark ball.

On the Lanes
The Storm Hy-Road Solid was developed for use on medium to heavy lane conditions. It allows you to generate the necessary hook even on fresh oil to cross the boards effectively. The symmetrical core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy and consistent entry angle into the pocket. On extremely dry conditions, however, this ball is unplayable; it overreacts immediately and burns up its energy.
