First Impressions
The Roto Grip Hustle PRO draws plenty of attention with its Purple, Raspberry, and Orange Pearl design. Inside works the Hustle Core, a modified symmetric core with a 2.530 RG and a low 0.030 differential. The cover is the Pumped Pearl Cover, brought to a high shine out of the box with a 1500 grit polished finish. Thanks to the medium RG and the moderate differential, the ball glides remarkably easily through the front part of the lane. These specs should allow the ball to clear the heads effortlessly and aim for a short, crisp hook.
Comparison
Compared to the Roto Grip Haywire, which uses an extremely strong solid cover, the Hustle PRO shows drastically more length and a far weaker overall reaction in oil. Against a ball like the Storm Pitch Blue, the Hustle PRO offers a considerably more defined backend hook thanks to its reactive cover. When the transition changes the lane and friction increases, the polished shell of the Hustle PRO keeps the ball from giving up its energy too early. That makes it an excellent choice on drier boards.
On the Lanes
The Roto Grip Hustle PRO is most at home on dried-up to light lane conditions. It's an outstanding option if you're looking for a reliable, clean ball motion once the lanes have been played on heavily. The symmetric core produces a predictable but snappy move at the breakpoint, which builds confidence when playing straighter lines. The ball should secure carry through a clean entry into the pocket. On heavy oil, however, it just skids through.
