First Impressions
The Roto Grip Hustle HSB comes in an attractive Silver Pearl/Black Solid color combination. At its heart is the proven Hustle Core with a 2.53 RG and a 0.030 differential, a medium RG value with a low differential. The cover is the VTC-H18 Hybrid Reactive coverstock, which delivers sufficient friction and backend reaction despite the factory 1500-grit polished surface. This technology was developed specifically for durability and consistent performance, and it provides excellent performance with control and versatility without excessive aggressiveness.
Comparison
Compared to the other Hustle models, the HSB is positioned longer than the Hustle INK, but not as long as the Hustle 3TP or Hustle Au. Of the three new Hustle variants, the HSB is the most aggressive version thanks to the stronger hybrid coverstock, and it shows an earlier and smoother reaction than the other two Hustle models. While the Ink is clearly different from the HSB and the Au, those two are not substantially different from one another. The HSB turned out to be the Goldilocks variant of the three, with the right length and the matching backend for various player types. Compared to the Storm Tropical Surge, the HSB offers more performance on typical house shots.
On the Lanes
The HSB is designed for light to medium oil conditions, thanks to the dynamic combination of core and hybrid cover at a friendly price. It allows a direct line without the massive over/under reactions that can show up with house shot friction, and it offers excellent pocket control. The low differential ensures a smooth exit off the pattern without jerky movement, which sets this ball apart from the typical flippy lower-end balls and makes it popular with tournament players. If you have a low rev rate in particular, you'll benefit on dry house shots or in breakdown situations, since the ball gets through the heads easily and still delivers enough backend. It also works surprisingly well on sport patterns, where it allows a direct line and shows outstanding performance.
