The 900 Global Honey Badger Teal was released in April 2018 and is a striking addition to the popular Honey Badger series. Visually, the ball stands out with a bold teal pearl coverstock. The technical foundation is the symmetrical Grapnel Core, developed specifically for a late and angular reaction. In the 15-pound version, this core carries an RG of 2.54 and a differential of 0.048. Those numbers signal a clean skid phase through the heads and high potential for a change of direction in the backend. The cover is the S71 Pearl Reactive, finished at the factory with a 1500 grit polish. This combination should ensure that the ball crosses the first boards without any notable loss of energy and releases its full power only on contact with friction at the breakpoint.
Comparison Compared to the original Honey Badger, the Honey Badger Teal offers a somewhat more aggressive response to friction thanks to the S71 Pearl cover. While the original Honey Badger was already known for its angularity, the Teal version seems to place even more emphasis on a sharp backend move. Compared to the Storm Hy-Road Pearl, the Honey Badger Teal shows a distinctly more angular character at the breakpoint owing to the Grapnel Core. The Storm Hy-Road Pearl works a bit rounder and more continuously through the pocket by comparison. Against the Roto Grip Hustle Ink, the Honey Badger Teal offers massively more motion in the back part of the lane and is designed for considerably more oil volume. Compared to the 900 Global Zen, which came out later, the Honey Badger Teal is much more sensitive to transition, but delivers a steeper entry angle when conditions are right. That positions it as one of the most aggressive symmetrical pearl balls in its price class, standing out above all for its angle.
On the Lanes The ideal scenarios for the 900 Global Honey Badger Teal are medium to lighter oil conditions. The ball shows its greatest strength once the heads have burned in a bit and dull solid balls start reacting too early. The polished finish lets the ball glide effortlessly through the front and store all of its kinetic energy for the backend. That makes it an excellent choice if you like to play deeper angles and send the ball well out to the friction to have it come back sharply into the pocket. If you have a lower rev rate, you'll benefit from the built-in dynamics of the Grapnel Core, which supports the hook at the end of the pattern. For power players, the Honey Badger Teal is an ideal tool for the late stages of a tournament, letting you navigate the transition without giving up carry potential. On heavy oil or very long patterns, however, the ball may skid too far, since the S71 Pearl cover doesn't find enough traction in deep oil. In the pocket, the explosive backend reaction produces impressive carry and strong pin action. All in all, the Honey Badger Teal is a specialized tool for bowlers looking for maximum angularity and a clean skid phase.
