First Impressions
The 900Global Honey Badger Extreme Tour Edition (often listed in the context of overseas releases in August 2023) breaks visually with the often loud colors of the series and shows up in a purist, solid black. Technically, it combines the proven Grapnel 2.0 Asymmetric core with the grabby S79 Solid Reactive coverstock. With a 2.54 RG and a 0.048 differential (at 15 lbs), plus a moderate intermediate differential of 0.012, the core is tuned for control. The factory 2000 Abralon finish ensures the ball picks up traction immediately instead of sliding across the oil. In hand it comes across as a classic "work tool" for difficult conditions, one that puts reliability ahead of show effects.
Comparison
Compared directly to the classic Honey Badger Extreme Pearl, known for its extreme "hockey stick" hook, the Tour Edition behaves almost the opposite way: it reads the lane noticeably earlier and offers a very round, flowing motion without any sharp change of direction. Against the 900Global Eternity Pi, released around the same time, the Honey Badger Extreme Tour Edition is less aggressive in overall hook and saves more energy for the backend, which makes it more versatile on medium oil. Using the Storm Phaze II as a benchmark reference, the Tour Edition offers a somewhat more defined motion through the pins thanks to its asymmetric core (better carry at flat entry angles), but stays similarly stable and forgiving in the midlane.
On the Lanes
This ball is a "weapon" for sport conditions and demanding house shots where the backends are extremely dry or spotty. It's ideal for taming jumpy wet/dry situations, since it doesn't overreact to friction. For tournament players it works excellently as the first ball on fresh oil to read the lane's reaction, or as a step-down when stronger balls like the Reality roll out too early. It lets you play the boards a little straighter and hit the pocket under control, without having to worry about over-hooking.
