BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The 900 Global Harsh Reality marks the direct evolution of the successful Reality series and positions itself as the highest-performing model in the manufacturer's heavy-oil segment. Visually, the ball comes in a striking mix of Atomic, Graphite and Black, giving it an aggressive but professional look. Technically, the Harsh Reality is based on the proven "Disturbance Asymmetric" core, which for this model has received a significant upgrade in the form of "A.I. Core Technology" (Amplified Inertia) in the outer core. This update lowers the RG to 2.48 (at 15 lbs) and raises the differential to 0.054, making the ball even more rev-friendly. This core is wrapped in the "Reserve Blend 902 Solid" coverstock, a further development of the S84 Response Solid shell. With an aggressive out-of-the-box finish of 2000-grit Abralon, the ball signals its primary purpose before the first shot: traction on high oil volume. The combination of low RG and high differential along with the massive intermediate differential of 0.019 clearly defines it as a "hook monster" for demanding conditions.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Reality from 900 Global, the Harsh Reality shows a similar basic character, but offers a measurable performance increase in terms of total hook and reaction. Thanks to the integration of A.I. technology in the outer core, the Harsh Reality should get started slightly earlier in the heads than its predecessor without losing energy for the backend. While balls like the Eternity Pi (also 900 Global) do read early, they often play rounder, whereas the Harsh Reality is designed to maintain a stronger move in the back part of the lane despite the early start. Against competitors in the "big asymmetric solid" category, such as the Gem from Roto Grip, the Harsh Reality should offer a bit more continuity through the pocket instead of anchoring extremely early. It thus fills the gap for bowlers who liked the reliability of the original Reality but need a touch more traction and authority on modern, even oilier patterns.
On the Lanes
The ideal scenario for the Harsh Reality is without question lanes with high oil volume ("heavy oil") or fresh, long sport patterns. If you throw the ball fast, you'll appreciate the ball's ability to grab reliably even in the "soup," since the 2000 surface minimizes skidding at the breakpoint. For rev-dominant bowlers, the ball offers the option of playing deep in the oil and still generating enough friction to get back to the pocket. Because of its strong asymmetry and rough surface, it is less suited to dry lanes or heavily played heads, where it could burn up energy too early ("burn out"). Once the transition sets in and the lane breaks down, you should be ready either to move well left to find more oil or to switch to a cleaner ball (such as a pearl or hybrid). The Harsh Reality thus works as the first ball out of the bag on fresh oil (a "benchmark for heavy oil") that reads the lane and defines the pattern for the games that follow.
