First Impressions
The Radical Grease Monkey Pow comes in a classic Black and Blue Solid color mix that signals absolute control. At the heart of this model beats the symmetrical Grease Monkey Core, which shows a high 2.540 RG and a strong 0.048 differential. The outer layer consists of the Solid Reactive coverstock, sanded out of the box to a dull 500 and 4000 Siaair finish. This combination of a rev-friendly core and a rough solid cover should make the ball start up extremely early and generate a smooth, heavy motion through the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the Radical Grease Monkey Whack, which uses a pearl cover, the Pow offers a massively shorter skid phase and a far smoother, more arcing reaction at the breakpoint. Next to the Storm Phaze II, the symmetrical core delivers a nearly identical, brutal change of direction in the oil. Once the transition sets in and the lane builds up uneven friction, the Pow benefits enormously from its rough surface. It bites through the oil mercilessly.
On the Lanes
The Radical Grease Monkey Pow is ideally suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. For strokers and tweeners it offers the chance to play the boards in the oil with confidence, since the surface minimizes unexpected reactions and finds massive traction. The steady drive toward the pocket should provide reliable carry, especially when absolute control is called for. Once the lane dries up, however, the ball's aggressive cover can make it react too weakly in the backend.
