First Impressions
The DV8 Glam brings an absolute fan favorite back to the lanes: the legendary Diva core. Visually, the ball immediately stands out with its glamorous pink and gold color combination, which definitely turns heads on the shelf. Technically, the proven symmetrical Diva core (RG 2.516, diff 0.052) has been modernized and equipped with DynamiCore technology for the first time, which increases the durability of the outer shell and should improve carry through less energy loss at the pins. The cover is Composite Fang Pearl, a further development that provides more bite than classic pearl blends. Out of the box, the ball comes with a 500/1000 Siaair finish that is then polished to a high gloss with Crown Factory Compound. The result is a ball that glides very cleanly through the heads but reads surprisingly stable in the midlane thanks to the low RG and the strong cover.
Comparison
The most natural comparison is the original DV8 Diva. The Glam keeps the typical, roll-happy character of the Diva core, but the modern Composite Fang Pearl cover responds much more sharply to friction and offers more overall hook than its predecessor. Compared to a Brunswick Uppercut, which is also polished and symmetrical, the Glam often looks a bit more angular at the breakpoint ("skid/flip"), while the Uppercut moves rounder. Against a stronger asymmetrical pearl ball like the DV8 Prowler, the Glam offers more control and length, but it is more aggressive than a pure entry-level pearl like the DV8 Tactic Control. It positions itself perfectly as a "step-down" option when strong solids burn up too early.
On the Lanes
The DV8 Glam is an all-purpose weapon for typical house shots and medium conditions. Its greatest strength comes out once the heads have been played in a bit ("transition") and you need a ball that gets through the dry heads effortlessly without slipping in the oil. The core's high differential generates plenty of flare, which helps it find traction even in oil, unlike weaker pearl balls. It is ideal if you like to open up the lane and play from the inside out, since the ball comes back with a lot of energy at the end of the pattern. For extremely heavy oil it is too clean, but as a benchmark ball for the second and third game of league play it is excellent.
