First Impressions
The Visionary Gladiator Empire draws every eye with its classy black and gold solid/pearl design. At its center works the massive asymmetric Gladiator core, which combines a low RG, a strong differential and a substantial intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in a modified hybrid reactive coverstock finished to a high gloss. The low RG lets the core rev up extremely quickly, which in combination with the smooth cover should let the ball get through the heads effortlessly and create an incredibly angular, asymmetric move off the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to typical symmetric balls such as the Storm Phaze II, the Gladiator Empire shows a drastically longer skid phase and a far more angular, controlled asymmetric reaction at the breakpoint. Compared to the Storm Snap Lock, the Gladiator Empire behaves very similarly, but the unique Visionary design often gives it a somewhat steadier, more consistent release of power. Once the transition sets in during a block, the hybrid cover stores energy ideally. It is enormously strong from open angles.
On the Lanes
The Visionary Gladiator Empire was developed for use on medium to heavy lane conditions. It allows you to generate the hook needed to cross the boards effectively from deep inside, even on dried-up conditions. The asymmetric core should optimize carry through a steady, massive and consistent entry angle into the pocket. On extremely heavy oil, however, this ball is often too slick; it doesn't use up its energy properly in the heads.
