Technically, this ball marks the return of a legend: inside works the proven Identity Asymmetric Core. At 15 lbs, this core has a low RG of 2.48, a high differential of 0.054 and an intermediate differential of 0.024. Even on paper, these numbers point to early rotation and massive flare potential. This powerful engine is wrapped in the Reserve Blend 901 Pearl Reactive coverstock. Unlike many aggressive solids, this surface comes polished to 1500 grit out of the box ("1500 Grit Polished"), which should ensure clean length through the heads before the asymmetry takes hold in the backend. In the current market, the ball fits into the category of strong asymmetric pearl balls. It shows parallels to the Attention Star S2 from Roto Grip, though the Identity core tends to make the Gear 300 Formula start rotating somewhat earlier (lower RG). Compared to 900Global's own Sublime, the Gear 300 Formula should produce a slightly rounder but still defined move at the breakpoint, since the Identity core has a different mass distribution than the Sublime's Immersed AI Core. The ideal scenario for the Gear 300 Formula is medium to heavy oil conditions where the lane has already broken down a bit, or when you need more angle. Thanks to the polished 901 Pearl surface, the ball glides effortlessly through the heads and stores its energy for the last third of the lane. As soon as it reaches the end of the oil pattern, the Identity core delivers a drastic change of direction. For technically skilled players (crankers and two-handers), the ball offers enough length to play deeper lines and send the ball way out to the edge boards without risking a burn-up. Strokers and players with less hand speed benefit from the core's low RG, which helps the ball get into the roll phase in time despite the smooth surface. The ball is especially effective once the transition sets in and pure solids lose energy too early, while weaker balls don't yet generate enough entry angle into the pocket. It serves as a bridge when you need hook and backend snap but don't want to give up the control of a large asymmetric core.
