First Impressions
The Ebonite Game Breaker 3 Black/Blue comes in a striking black-and-blue color combination that lives up to its name. This ball uses the proven symmetrical Enhanced V2 core from the previous GB2 and GB3 releases, but pairs it with a different hybrid coverstock. This low RG and medium differential combination should deliver easy revs down the entire lane. The flare potential of this core is large enough to create a strong but predictable move to the pocket on the back end. The hybrid GB 12.0 surface is polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish after being worked with 500 and 1000 Abralon.
Comparison
The result is a ball that runs cleaner and reacts more angular than the sanded original GB3, while at the same time offering more overall hook than the polished GB3 Pearl. For the Black/Blue version, Ebonite wanted to create a ball that is longer and more angular than the GB3 Pearl. The GB 12.0 hybrid cover had previously only been used on the Ebonite Adrenaline Shot. Compared to the regular Game Breaker 3, this version shows clear differences in backend behavior. While it still offers a strong midlane reaction, it does not behave like a classic Game Breaker on the back end.
On the Lanes
The GB3 should work best on medium to heavy oil conditions. The long and strong motion of the Game Breaker 3 Black/Blue showed up very well on most test patterns and was nearly on target on medium patterns for all player types. Strokers played a straight angle through the heads on fresh medium oil patterns and let the backend motion of the GB3 Black/Blue work to the pocket. When Ebonite fans are looking for a benchmark ball to reach for when the lanes get tough, they always pull their Game Breaker out of the bag. This is meant to be the perfect benchmark ball if you want to leave the pins black and blue. The polished hybrid surface makes it versatile for different playing styles and lane conditions, offering a good balance between length and backend reaction.
