First Impressions
Released in January 2016, the Ebonite Game Breaker 2 MVP (often shortened to GB2 MVP) fills a crucial gap in the popular Game Breaker series. At its heart sits the legendary Enhanced V2 core, a symmetrical weight block with a low 2.48 RG and a 0.048 differential (at 15 lbs). Those numbers have always stood for early revving and extremely controllable motion. This engine is paired with the GB 10.7 Hybrid Reactive coverstock. The special part is the finish: sanded at the factory to 500/1000 Abralon and then polished with Powerhouse Clean N' Sheen, the ball doesn't come out highly polished but with a rich sheen. That texture lets the ball glide cleanly through the heads without losing the traction in oil you expect from a benchmark ball.
Comparison
The GB2 MVP is positioned precisely between its two "siblings": the original Game Breaker 2 (solid) and the Game Breaker 2 Gold (pearl). Where the original GB2 rolls very early and makes an extremely round, almost braking move, and the GB2 Gold often skids too far before turning aggressively, the MVP offers the best of both worlds. It is cleaner through the heads than the solid, but reads the midlane noticeably harder and more reliably than the pearl. Compared to a Storm Hy-Road, the GB2 MVP feels a bit earlier and "heavier" rolling; it relies less on skid/flip and more on controlled traction. Next to a Roto Grip Haywire, it goes a little longer and is more angular at the breakpoint, which makes it more versatile across different patterns.

The Ebonite Game Breaker 2 MVP is the very definition of a benchmark ball for medium oil conditions. It's often the first ball out of the bag to read the oil pattern. Its strength is predictability: it doesn't overreact to dry spots (friction), but it also doesn't skid helplessly through puddles of oil. That makes it ideal for league bowlers looking for a dependable, forgiving reaction on typical house shots. If you need a ball that offers control without giving up hitting power on the pin deck (carry), this is it. When the lane changes (transition), the hybrid cover allows angle adjustments without the ball immediately going "dead" or jumping unpredictably.
