First Impressions
The Ebonite Futura shows up in an attractive Purple/Black/Silver color combination. Technically it is built around the symmetrical Futura HD (High Density) Core, which has an RG of 2.48 inches and a differential of 0.053 inches. This is wrapped in the GSV-1 Hybrid coverstock with a 500/2000 Abralon factory finish. This combination of proven technology and new developments should give the ball the ability to take ball motion to the next level. Comparison
The Futura HD core is based on the proven lineage of Ebonite's famous Game Breaker series and is modeled after the Enhanced V2 Core from the Game Breaker line. While the RG is identical to the Game Breaker 2 and Game Breaker 3 at 2.48 inches, the differential was increased from 0.048 to 0.053 inches, which results in improved flare potential. The GSV-1 Hybrid coverstock has already been used successfully on the Ebonite Choice. In direct comparison to the Game Breaker series, the higher core density gives the Futura the same low-RG behavior with improved backend continuation. On the Lanes
The Futura is designed for medium to heavy lane conditions and shows its strengths especially in strong midlane control and powerful backend motion. On heavy oil patterns the 500/2000 Abralon surface provides sufficient friction in the midlane and a strong, smooth arc to the pocket. The ball develops high torque with a very strong change of direction on the backend, while showing a heavy roll with good energy retention. The Futura suits many different player types and styles, and its versatility allows it to be played both from the first arrows and from deeper lines. If you have a lower rev rate, however, keep in mind that the aggressive surface may cause too early a hook, while you would benefit from higher oil volume.
