First Impressions
The Motiv Frenzy was released in June 2026 as a special international release and is designed as a reactive pearl ball aimed primarily at players looking for clean length and a defined backend reaction. At the heart of this model sits the newly developed symmetrical Excel Core. At a standard weight of 15 pounds, this core delivers an RG value of 2.570 and a differential of 0.030. These specific core numbers indicate that the ball revs up relatively late and shows moderate flare development. The core is wrapped in what Motiv calls the Vitality Pearl Reactive Cover. This coverstock comes out of the box with a 5500 LSP finish, giving it an extremely smooth, high-gloss character. Thanks to this very fine finish, the Motiv Frenzy should glide effortlessly through the heads without giving up energy to the lane too early. The combination of a medium-high RG, a moderate differential and a heavily polished pearl surface is intended to produce a very late but all the more dynamic change of direction down the lane.
Comparison To place the Motiv Frenzy's ball motion more precisely, it helps to look at established models. Comparing it to the Roto Grip Hustle, which also carries a 0.030 differential, there are strong parallels on paper. However, thanks to its high-gloss 5500 LSP finish and the specific Vitality cover, the Frenzy should respond noticeably more readily to friction once it exits the oil. The Motiv Frenzy stores its rotational energy a bit longer and therefore creates a marginally sharper angle into the pocket. Compared with a benchmark ball like the Storm Phaze II, the contrasting areas of use become clear. The Phaze II, with its dull solid cover and low RG, reads the lane extremely early and needs plenty of oil volume to work at its best. The Motiv Frenzy, on the other hand, would very likely skid too long on such oily patterns and miss the critical breakpoint, since its cover was developed for entirely different demands. It shows its strengths only once balls of the Phaze II's caliber lose too much energy in the heads and start to die before the pocket.
On the Lanes The Motiv Frenzy's ideal window is on lanes with lower oil volume or in situations where the lane is already well broken down. When transition sets in over the course of a tournament or a league night and the oil is carried off the front boards, many bowlers need a ball that doesn't react too early. This ball is built for exactly those scenarios. Its low-friction cover lets you move your line further outside and carry the ball cleanly through the dried-up front part of the lane. Where other balls build hook too early and lose hitting power because of it, this model saves its energy for the back end of the lane. The late but powerful move into the pocket should keep carry high even from steeper angles. Especially if you have reduced ball speed or a very dominant rev rate, you'll find the ball to be a valuable addition to avoid overreaction. On freshly laid, longer or very oily patterns, however, the model will run into its limits, since the polished surface can't build enough traction to provide the necessary stability in the ball motion.
