At the heart of its construction is the proven symmetrical Detonator core. With a reference weight of 15 pounds, this engine delivers a low RG of 2.47 and a maximum differential of 0.055. These specifications clearly indicate that the ball is designed to spin very early and generate maximum flare. The core is encased in the newly developed Leverage MXT Solid Reactive cover. The cover comes standard with a very rough 1000 Grit LSS finish. This combination is intended to ensure that the ball navigates heavily oiled frontside areas effortlessly while maintaining the necessary traction. A common problem with balls designed for heavy oil is a lack of energy at the end of the lane. The Motiv Forge Fuel was specifically designed to resolve the conflict between early grip and sustained carry. The new coverstock material is intended to provide immense predictability on the lane while ensuring sufficient energy is retained in the pins for optimal carry.
Comparison Analysis
When comparing it to other balls, the Motiv Forge Fuel's positioning becomes very clear. Compared to the Motiv Subzero Forge, which uses an older generation of leverage cover, the Forge Fuel delivers equally strong control in the middle of the lane but features significantly stronger carry towards the pins. While the Subzero Forge occasionally tends to become a bit too flat after the hook, the Forge Fuel maintains its angle better. Compared to one of the most well-known benchmark balls, the Storm Phaze II, the Forge Fuel proves to be far better equipped for extreme oil volumes. The Storm Phaze II offers excellent, consistent motion on medium patterns, but can react too late in the front section when there's a lot of oil. The Motiv Forge Fuel, with its 1000-grit surface, reads the lane much earlier and offers more confidence on these wet patterns. Compared to asymmetrical heavyweights like the Motiv Jackal Onyx, the Forge Fuel is more forgiving and consistent in its motion. In practical application, the Motiv Forge Fuel demonstrates its strengths primarily on fresh and heavily oiled lanes. Pace-dominant players benefit enormously from this ball's early roll. The rough cover and low RG help these players generate sufficient hook before the ball reaches the alley, even at very high launch speeds. Balanced players will consider the Forge Fuel the ideal ball when typical benchmark balls glide too smoothly through the front and they need more control at high oil volumes. It perfectly fills the gap when symmetrical benchmark options are too weak and stronger asymmetrical balls are too angular. For spin-dominant players, its use is more specific: they can primarily use the ball at the highest oil volumes or in extreme wet-dry conditions to tame unpredictable reactions. The ball's surface adapts very well, extending its usability to slightly less oily bars. However, once a significant transition occurs and friction on the lane increases, the Forge Fuel should be replaced with balls with a smoother cover to prevent the ball from losing energy too early and failing to drive through the pins with the necessary power.
