First Impressions
The Fatal Venom comes in a striking purple-orange design and belongs to Motiv's proven Venom line. Technically it is built around the symmetrical Gear core with a 2.48 RG (15 pounds) and a low 0.034 differential. The cover is the Infusion Pearl reactive coverstock with a polished 5500 grit LSP surface. The Gear core produces low RG and differential numbers, which lets the ball rev up especially quickly with minimal track flare while providing stable motion with tremendous energy retention.
Comparison
Compared to the original Motiv Venom Shock, the Fatal Venom uses the same Gear core, but pairs it with the newer Infusion Pearl cover. Where the Venom Shock grabs earlier and runs smoothly, the Fatal Venom offers more length and a sharper backend angle thanks to its pearl surface. Compared to the 900Global Zen Pearl, the Fatal Venom is less aggressive with less hook potential. Against the Storm Phaze III, which is classified as an upper mid-range ball, the Fatal Venom as a mid-performance ball shows a weaker hook reaction.
On the Lanes
The Fatal Venom should deliver a deadly combination of length and angular strike motion on light to medium oil conditions. It fits ideally into the mid-control to mid-late category and is particularly suited if you need a controllable ball for later games in a block. The label "house shot killer" is often applied to it, and its smooth but strong controlling motion should also be effective on sport patterns. The polished 5500 grit surface places it clearly in the medium to drier lane conditions range. The combination of pearl cover and Gear core should create a true skid/flip reaction on lighter lane conditions, producing a clean and moderately angular motion.
