First Impressions
The Storm Fast Ride comes in a clean Blue and White color scheme. At the heart of this model sits the symmetrical Cruiser Core, distinguished by a 2.580 RG and a moderate 0.021 differential. The cover is the Reactor Pearl coverstock, which shines with a 1500 grit polished finish out of the box. The higher RG combined with the low differential and the smooth cover should let the ball glide through the heads extremely effortlessly. The design is primarily focused on delivering a very long, clean motion with a smooth and easily controlled reaction.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Hy-Road, which has considerably more flare potential, the Fast Ride delivers noticeably more length down the boards and reacts rounder and less aggressively at the breakpoint. Against a pure entry-level ball like the Storm Tropical Breeze, the Fast Ride still generates a somewhat more pronounced hook. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, the Fast Ride benefits enormously from its pearl cover, since it doesn't pick up too early even on plenty of friction and manages its energy efficiently.
On the Lanes
The Storm Fast Ride finds its preferred territory on dry to very dried-up lane conditions. It's the logical choice if you need a ball on burned-up patterns that skids easily through the dry heads and turns smoothly into the pocket. The predictable reaction helps you stay in control while still generating enough power for solid carry. On heavily oiled lanes, however, the polished surface simply lacks the necessary traction.
