First Impressions
The Brunswick Fanatic comes in an attractive color combination of purple and light blue. Inside works the I-Block Symmetric core, which shows a 2.540 RG and a 0.052 differential. For the cover, Brunswick relies on the Relativity V Max Cover. The ball ships with a 500 Siaair finish, refined with Royal Compound and Royal Shine. This combination of a strong differential and a highly polished surface should let the ball travel through the heads with extremely little friction. The makeup of the cover supports an explosive energy release in the backend.
Comparison Compared directly with the Brunswick Fanatic BTU, which uses a special urethane-like cover, the regular Fanatic shows clearly more length and a massively sharper hook in the backend. Against the Storm Hy-Road, the Fanatic offers a somewhat more aggressive change of direction at the breakpoint thanks to its strong differential, as soon as it meets friction. Once the transition sets in and the front boards dry up, the Fanatic plays to its full strength, while balls with a matte surface lose energy too early.
On the Lanes The Brunswick Fanatic reaches its ideal performance on medium to dried-up lane conditions. Because it reads the lane late, it gives you the option of playing a deep line across the boards without the ball burning up in the front part of the lane. For crankers and tweeners, the ball stores enough energy to generate a continuous and strong path into the pocket. The result is excellent carry. On very heavy oil, however, the Fanatic will skid too much due to its polish.
