First Impressions
Announced for August 2026, the Radical Evil Eye Pearl is a high-performance bowling ball that draws attention with an interesting combination of a proven core and a brand-new material. Visually, the ball comes in a striking three-color mix of Smoke, Teal and Magenta, which gives it high visibility on the lane. Inside works the Evil Eye Symmetric Core, which already generated plenty of attention in the previous model. Looking at the raw numbers at a weight of 15 pounds, the RG comes in at 2.495 and the differential at 0.046. What sets this so-called Super Symmetrical Core apart, however, is its enormous adaptability through the chosen drilling layout. According to the manufacturer, the dynamic properties can be altered so significantly by the drilling that the ball takes on asymmetric traits. A total differential of up to 0.057 as well as an intermediate differential of 0.023 should be achievable. The cover is the newly developed HK22C Pearl Reactive. This coverstock is sanded at the factory with 500, 1000 and 1500 Siaair pads and finally polished to a high gloss with Factory Compound. This specific surface makeup is designed to let the ball skid very cleanly through the heads and save up the stored energy for a late and abrupt reaction.
Comparison Bringing in the original Radical Evil Eye, which comes with a solid cover, clear differences in ball motion emerge. While the solid ball is designed for early traction in the oil and produces a very steady, controlled motion, the Evil Eye Pearl uses its polished surface to generate considerably more length. It largely ignores the front part of the lane and reacts all the more violently to the friction in the backend. Comparing the ball to a popular benchmark model like the Storm Phaze II, it's notable that the Storm Phaze II offers an extremely even and very early reaction that readily forgives mistakes at the release. The Radical Evil Eye Pearl, on the other hand, behaves completely differently: it stores its energy much longer and develops a far sharper change of direction instead of rounding off the motion. Another interesting comparison is with the Radical Revenge Pearl. Although both balls have a pearl surface, the Evil Eye Pearl should be the more dominant one thanks to its highly modifiable core and the updated HK22C cover. The ability to reach asymmetric core numbers after drilling means the Evil Eye Pearl drives more dynamically toward the pocket and potentially delivers better carry at suboptimal entry angles. Overall it positions itself as a more specialized option compared to conventional symmetrical pearl balls, since it combines the length of a pearl with the backend strength of an asymmetric.
On the Lanes In practice, the Radical Evil Eye Pearl is an excellent tool for medium to heavier oil volumes where a late ball reaction is nonetheless required. It should show its true strengths as soon as the lanes go into transition during a tournament. When the boards in the front part of the lane have already been played and hold less oil, many dull balls tend to read too early and lose their energy in the backend. In exactly these situations the polished surface of the Evil Eye Pearl offers the decisive advantage, as the ball skids easily through the drying heads. Once it reaches the drier zones at the end of the oil pattern, it converts the stored energy into an extremely powerful hook that attacks the pocket with authority. This ball is particularly well suited to players who like to play deeper lines and send the ball well out to the right to create a large entry angle. At the same time, if you have lower ball speed you'll benefit from the pearl cover, since it keeps the ball from building friction too early. A big plus for the pro shop operator is the layout flexibility as well. Depending on the layout chosen, the ball can either be drilled for a more controlled but still late motion, or for a maximally aggressive backend reaction to ensure optimal carry even on complex lane conditions.
