First Impressions
The 900 Global Eternity, released in February 2023, has big shoes to fill: it was designed to close the gap left behind by the (discontinued) Altered Reality. Visually, the ball is an absolute eye-catcher in Neon Purple, Black and Silver. Technically it is built around the brand-new asymmetric Epoch core, a modern evolution of the classic Breakpoint core. With a 2.49 RG, a 0.050 differential and an intermediate differential of 0.014 (in 15 lbs), it offers strong but not extreme asymmetric numbers. The cover is the proven S84 Response Pearl Reactive coverstock, polished out of the box with the Reacta Gloss finish. This combination of a strong core and a very reactive pearl shell delivers effortless skid through the heads and an explosive change of direction at the breakpoint ("flip").
Comparison
Compared directly to the **900 Global Reality** (solid), the Eternity is the perfect partner. Where the Reality digs in early and smooths out the lane, the Eternity offers noticeably more length and stores its energy for the backend. It is the logical "ball down" when the Reality burns up too early. Set against the **Roto Grip Exotic Gem**, the Eternity runs a bit cleaner through the heads and often looks more angular, more abrupt at the breakpoint. The Exotic Gem revs up a little earlier and rounder. Against a **Storm Infinite Physix**, the Eternity shows similar overall strength, but thanks to the S84 Response shell it often feels a tick quicker to react to dry boards, which makes it ideal for playing steep angles.
On the Lanes
The 900 Global Eternity is a high-performance ball for medium to heavier oil conditions that shines especially when you need to open up the lane. It is not an option for dry lanes (it is too strong for that) and it is not the first choice for a lane completely swimming in oil either (it slides too far for that). Its ideal window is the transition: when the benchmark balls (like the Phaze II or Zen) start hitting flat or hooking too early, the Eternity lets you move deep inside. It glides over the burned-up heads and uses the friction at the end of the pattern to come back to the pocket with tremendous force and a steep entry angle. A must-have if you like to "throw the hook."
