First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Eruption Pro Hybrid draws plenty of attention with its bright orange and black hybrid design. At the center sits the modified symmetrical Resurgence core, carrying a 2.500 RG and a moderate 0.043 differential. That core is wrapped in the Bend-It Hybrid Reactive coverstock, finished to a high polish. The medium RG lets the core rotate very definitely, which in combination with the smooth surface should let the ball get through the heads effortlessly and produce a steady, arcing motion on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly with the solid version, the Eruption Pro Hybrid shows a slightly longer skid phase but a far steadier, smoother reaction down the lane. Against the Storm Hy-Road, the Eruption Pro Hybrid behaves very similarly, though the symmetrical core often generates an even rounder backend motion. Once the transition sets in during a block and friction on the outside boards increases, the hybrid cover stores energy consistently. It is an extremely controllable ball for inconsistent patterns.
On the Lanes
The Columbia 300 Eruption Pro Hybrid was developed for use on light to medium lane conditions. It lets you generate the hook you need even on dried-up conditions to cross the boards effectively. The symmetrical core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy, and consistent entry angle into the pocket. For extremely heavy oil, however, this ball is not the right choice; it doesn't use up its energy properly and slides too far.
