First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Severe Delirium comes in an extremely menacing black and red solid color blend. At the center of this model beats the asymmetric Resurgence core, which features a low 2.460 RG, a strong 0.043 differential and a very low intermediate differential. The outer layer consists of the extremely tacky Bend-It Solid coverstock, heavily roughed up out of the box with 500 and 2000 Abralon. This combination of a very early-revving core and the aggressive surface should make the ball grab extremely early and deliver a massive, heavy roll phase.
Comparison
Compared to the Columbia 300 Delirium Shock, the Severe Delirium offers noticeably more early traction and a far more arcing reaction in heavy oil. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Severe Delirium provides similarly massive midlane control, though with marginally less asymmetric snap. When friction on the lane increases and the transition dries out the front part of the lane, this ball reacts extremely sensitively and burns up all of its energy immediately. It is a pure specialist for high volume.
On the Lanes
The Columbia 300 Severe Delirium is ideally suited to lane conditions with extreme oil volume. For strokers and tweeners, it offers the option of playing direct lines on fresh patterns, since the surface finds immense hold in the heads. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry, as the ball rolls heavily through the pin deck. Once the lane dries up, however, the ball can hit flat. In those moments, a polished cover is strongly advised.
