First Impressions
The DV8 Decree Pearl comes in a striking red/white/black color combination and was released in December 2020. The ball uses the proven Command Symmetric core, which has already been used successfully in the Turmoil bowling balls and the original Decree. With a 2.530 RG and a 0.043 differential in 15-pound balls, it shows medium to high flare potential. The Composite Fang Pearl coverstock gets a factory finish of 500/1000/2000 Siaair with Crown Factory Compound polish.
Comparison
The Decree Pearl is the perfect step-down when the original Decree or other balls with a sanded surface hook too much. While the Decree Solid is a hook monster for the price, the Decree Pearl offers the ideal alternative with its Composite Fang Pearl coverstock and polished finish for more length and a sharp backend reaction. Compared to current competing products such as the Storm Phaze II Pearl, which also uses a pearl coverstock for extended length, the Decree Pearl sits in the mid-performance category. With a hook rating of 10 on the DBS scale (1-20), it lands well below more aggressive options.
On the Lanes
The Decree Pearl is best suited to light to medium oil conditions and should provide easy length with an angular backend. The surface lets the ball skid through dry to medium lane conditions and react sharply on the backend, while the Command Symmetric core generates length effortlessly and stores energy for a sharp backend reaction. The performance characteristic is described as length with a strong backend. It is especially suited if you need a controllable option that still gives you enough backend motion as the lanes break down. As a mid-performance ball, it is ready to take control on the lanes. The pearl coverstock makes it the first choice when the lanes have already been played on and a less aggressive reaction is called for.
