BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Dark PhysiX is an international release from April 2023 and expands the popular PhysiX series with an interesting hybrid variant. As the name suggests, its look stays in dark tones, and it carries the "Fruit Trifle" scent. Inside works the proven asymmetric Atomic Core, known for extremely early revving and massive flare potential with a 2.48 RG and a 0.053 differential (at 15 lbs). This rev-happy core is paired with the NRG Hybrid Reactive coverstock. Unlike the original PhysiX, which was matte, the Dark PhysiX comes with a Reacta Gloss finish. This combination of tacky chemistry (NRG) and polished finish creates a ball that gets through the heads effortlessly without losing the strong midlane read the series is famous for.
Comparison
Compared to the original **Storm PhysiX** (matte), the Dark PhysiX offers noticeably more length and stores more energy for the backend, which makes it more versatile on slightly broken-down lanes. Set against the **Storm Dark Code**, the Dark PhysiX comes across as rounder and more controllable; where the Dark Code often reacts very angular and almost aggressive at the breakpoint, the Atomic Core of the PhysiX relies on a heavier, continuous roll phase into the pocket. Next to a straight pearl ball like the **Storm AstroPhysiX**, the Dark PhysiX reads the midlane earlier and is less prone to over/under reactions on fresh oil, since the hybrid cover makes the transition smoother.
On the Lanes
The Dark PhysiX is an ideal weapon for medium to heavier oil patterns once the lane starts to change (transition). It works excellently as a first ball change when pure solids like the Phaze II burn up energy too early but pure pearls are still too slippery. Thanks to the Reacta Gloss finish it glides cleanly through dry heads, yet the NRG base makes sure it doesn't skid through the oil. It's perfect if you love the heavy roll of an asymmetric core but need more length to play deeper angles on the lane. A strong hybrid for the transition that forgives ball speed mistakes better than many sharp pearls.
