BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Cuda PowerCOR, released in September 2022, brings a legendary name in bowling history back to the lanes. Visually the ball stays classic in burgundy and black, which underscores the retro charm. Inside, however, modern technology is at work: the symmetrical Cuda PowerCOR core features a dense, drillable inner core that optimizes density without drastically changing the specs after drilling. With a 2.501 RG and a 0.047 differential (at 15 lbs), it delivers solid benchmark numbers. The cover is made of the proven ERT Solid Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a dull 500/1500 Siaair Micro Pad. This rough surface in combination with the core numbers promises an early, very stable read of the lane and a controlled motion without hectic jumps.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Columbia 300 Power Torq, which is also known as a strong symmetrical solid, the Cuda PowerCOR is a bit smoother and more controlled. While the Power Torq (lower RG, higher diff) tends to rev up extremely early and sometimes brake almost too aggressively in the midlane, the Cuda offers more length thanks to its slightly higher RG, along with a more continuous arc on the backend. Bring in the Columbia 300 Top Speed, which uses a polished hybrid cover, and the difference is obvious: the Top Speed skids much farther through the heads and reacts more angularly to friction, while the Cuda PowerCOR grabs the lane much earlier and smooths out the edges of the oil pattern. Against a market standard like the Storm Phaze II, the Cuda shows a similarly reliable benchmark reaction, but often feels a tick earlier in the traction phase.
On the Lanes
The Cuda PowerCOR is the ultimate "benchmark ball." It's predestined to be the first ball out of the bag to read the oil pattern. It is most at home on medium to oily lanes, where its rough surface helps it cut through the oil without skidding uncontrollably. Its greatest strength is predictability: it eliminates overreaction off the dry outside boards (over/under) and provides a smooth but powerful arc into the pocket. If you're looking for a ball that forgives speed mistakes and delivers a calm but effective reaction, the Cuda is an excellent choice. Once the lane dries up considerably, though, you should switch to polished material, since it could lose energy too early at that point.
