First Impressions
The Storm Crux Pearl comes in a stunning White, Black and Copper Pearl color blend. At its center works the massive asymmetric Catalyst Core, which carries a 2.500 RG, a strong 0.052 differential and a 0.017 intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in the ERG Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished with a shiny 1500 grit polished surface. The asymmetric design makes the core rotate hard, while the smooth cover should give the ball a very easy motion through the heads and a huge snap on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Storm Crux with its dull solid cover, the Crux Pearl shows noticeably more length, delivers less traction in the oil and a considerably more angular reaction at the breakpoint. Against a ball like the Storm Snap Lock, the Crux Pearl offers a nearly identical, extremely strong and asymmetric change of direction. When transition changes the lane and dry spots appear, the pearl surface keeps the ball from burning up energy. It reacts sharp and big.
On the Lanes
The Storm Crux Pearl is most at home on medium to heavy lane conditions. It's an excellent option if you're looking for a clean front end and enormous backend motion when the lanes are heavily oiled but breaking down. The asymmetric core creates an extremely clear, massive angle at the breakpoint, which builds confidence when playing deep lines. The ball should secure carry through its angular entry into the pocket. On very little oil, however, it reacts too extremely.
