BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The 900 Global Cruise Control shows up in a striking Cherry/White/Cornflower color combination and is positioned as an overseas release from June 2024 that is approved for USBC league play. Inside works the asymmetric Ellipticon Core, originally introduced in the successful Continuum and one of the cores with the highest intermediate differentials in the 900 Global lineup. With a 2.48 RG (15 pounds), a 0.054 differential and a 0.029 mass bias, this core provides the basis for a high flare potential of over 5-6 inches. The Reserve Blend 901 Hybrid Reactive cover combines the properties of solid and pearl materials and ships from the factory polished to 1500 grit. This surface prep should deliver a balanced compromise between traction in the heads and sufficient length. The Cruise Control joins the established Cruise series, which was developed primarily for the Asian market and is characterized by the use of the latest 900 Global technologies.
Comparison The Cruise Control uses the same Ellipticon core technology as the 900 Global Continuum, but was fitted with a distinctly different coverstock philosophy. While the Continuum was designed for heavy oil conditions with its S82RX hybrid cover and 2000 grit finish, the Cruise Control positions itself somewhat cleaner and longer thanks to the Reserve Blend 901 Hybrid combined with 1500 polish. Compared to other members of the Cruise family such as the Cruise Sapphire or the later Cruise GPT, the Control differs in its specific hybrid approach. The Cruise Sapphire relied on a modified S86 Pearl cover with a beta additive for maximum skid, while the Cruise GPT, as the sixth member of the series, was the first to combine AI core technology with Reserve Blend 90X Pearl. The Reserve Blend 901 series was developed to deliver a cleaner reaction through the heads than older 900 Global covers like the S84 Response. This characteristic should give the Cruise Control more versatile usability than the more aggressive heavy oil options in the 900 Global range such as the Eternity Pi or the Reality.
On the Lanes The 900 Global Cruise Control is aimed at bowlers looking for a ball for medium to medium-heavy oil conditions who also want to benefit from the predictability of an asymmetric core. The 1500 polish surface should let the ball skid cleanly through the heads, while the strong Ellipticon Core with its high mass bias should provide a defined transition in the midlane. The hybrid construction of the Reserve Blend 901 cover promises a balanced compromise here: it combines the midlane control of a solid coverstock with the backend reaction of a pearl material. For tweeners and strokers, the Cruise Control could prove to be a versatile option that offers enough length without losing control on the backend. Power players with higher rev rates should note that the ball may react too early and could lose energy when there is too much volume in the heads. The polished surface allows flexible adjustments: dulling it with lower grits gets the reaction started earlier, while the factory setting should work well on typical house conditions. As part of the overseas Cruise line, the Control offers an interesting alternative if you're looking for a complement to more aggressive asymmetric balls, or if you need a controlled but still dynamic ball for changing conditions in the medium oil range.
