First Impressions
The DV8 Creed was released in July 2017 and immediately catches the eye with its high-contrast look in Teal, White and Black Pearl. Inside works the newly developed Creed Low RG Asymmetric Core. At 15 pounds, this core carries a low RG of 2.496 and a very high differential of 0.055. The intermediate differential sits at a moderate 0.011. This combination of low RG and high dynamics produces quick rotation and strong flare potential. The core is wrapped in the Composite Hook Pearl Reactive coverstock. At the factory the surface is first scuffed with a 500 Siaair Micro Pad and then polished with Crown Factory Compound. This specific preparation aims to give the ball enough length through the heads, while the aggressive chemical base of the Composite technology makes sure it doesn't simply slide away in the oil but builds defined traction.
Comparison In comparison, the DV8 Creed shows itself to be a versatile weapon for more angular lines. Compared to the DV8 Pitbull, which is built for maximum hook on heavy oil and rolls very early, the Creed offers considerably more length and a sharper move at the breakpoint. Where the Pitbull flattens out the lane, the Creed uses its stored energy for an explosive hit. Compared to the Hammer Black Widow Gold, a direct competitor in the asymmetric pearl category, the Creed reads the midlane a bit more strongly. The Black Widow Gold tends toward a more extreme skid-flip reaction, whereas the Creed comes across a touch rounder and more controllable thanks to the Composite cover, without producing less overall hook. Against the DV8 Vandal Strike, the Creed represents a clear step up in total hook and can also be played on somewhat more oil volume.
On the Lanes The ideal window for the DV8 Creed is medium to medium-heavy oil conditions. It shines especially during the transition phase, when the heads start to break down and dull solid balls lose energy too early. Thanks to the polished surface it clears the heads effortlessly, but develops enough traction in the midlane not to shoot past the breakpoint. If you like to open up the lane and play wide angles across the boards, you'll find the Creed a reliable partner that reacts strongly to friction and returns to the pocket energetically. The moderate intermediate differential keeps the asymmetry manageable, which makes the ball more forgiving of slight mistakes in the release than more extreme designs. It is often the first choice when you need to move from a benchmark ball to something more angular in order to improve carry.
