First Impressions
The Radical Counter Attack Solid comes in a sleek purple design and picks up directly where the popular Rack Attack series left off. Technically, the ball is equipped with the Ai-20 Solid coverstock and the symmetrical Rack Attack 2 core. The surface is finished at 500/1000/3000 Siaair, while the core shows moderate numbers with a 2.562 RG and a 0.023 differential in 15-pound balls. The Modified Light Bulb core should deliver more length and stronger continuation through the pins than its predecessor.
Comparison
The Counter Attack Solid follows the concept of the popular Radical Rack Attack series and uses the same Ai-20 coverstock formulation with targeted core improvements for optimized pin-carrying power. With its higher RG of 2.575 inches and low differential of 0.023, it produces tight flare rings in oil and allows for good length. As part of Radical's affordable EZ-Use line, it was released alongside the Counter Attack Pearl. Comparisons to other Radical models such as the Conspiracy, Double Cross or Squatch Solid show its positioning in the middle performance range of the Radical family.
On the Lanes
The Counter Attack Solid generates a strong midlane hook motion on medium to heavy lane conditions. The low differential prevents excessive hooking when the ball exits the oil pattern and allows you to play straighter up the outside boards on drier conditions. Both strokers and tweeners showed positive reactions on dry test patterns, using similar ball paths and appreciating the midlane reaction of the solid coverstock. The ball is especially suited if you're looking for controllable length with a balanced backend reaction and want to rely on proven Radical technology.
