First Impressions
The Radical Counter Attack Pearl comes in a striking red pearl design and relies on proven technical components. The core is the Modified Light Bulb Core, a symmetrical design with an RG of 2.575 at 15 pounds and a low differential of 0.023. The cover is the Ai-20 Pearl coverstock formulation, finished with 500/1000 Siaair and Crown Factory Polish. These specs should deliver length and backend flip.
Comparison
The Counter Attack Pearl offers the most length in the entire Radical lineup and uses the identical Ai-20 cover formulation as the original Rack Attack, with subtle core modifications intended to improve continuation through the pins. Compared to the Counter Attack Solid, it shows slightly less overall hook but a stronger move off the breakpoint. The Modified Light Bulb Core should provide more continuation than the original Rack Attack. The pearl version positions itself as the longer alternative to more solid Radical options.
On the Lanes
The Counter Attack Pearl is best suited to drier lane conditions, although the manufacturer specs also mention medium to heavy oil volumes. The combination of the Ai-20 pearl cover and the symmetrical core should provide length with backend flip for medium to light lane conditions. The low differential prevents over-hook when the ball exits the pattern and allows straighter lines out to the outside on drier conditions. If carrydown develops, you can adjust your position one board to the right. The ball is aimed at bowlers looking for control and predictability on moderate lane conditions.
