The Storm Code Black SP stands out as an exclusive international release in a classy Black Pearl look. Inside works the extremely strong asymmetric RAD4 core with a 2.500 RG, a massive 0.058 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential. For the cover, Storm relies on a highly polished R2S Pearl Reactive coverstock. This combination of the asymmetric RAD4 core and the low-friction, smooth cover should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and save all of its energy for a massive, asymmetric kick on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the regular Storm Code Black, the Code Black SP behaves extremely similarly and offers an identical, drastic backend motion. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, which uses a dull solid cover, the SP delivers far cleaner length, but builds a similarly heavy hook at the breakpoint thanks to the same core engine. When friction on the lane is high and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Code Black SP preserves its energy outstandingly and reacts incredibly sharply.
On the Lanes
The Storm Code Black SP is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. For strokers and if you throw at moderate ball speed, it offers the option of playing deeper lines, since the cover saves energy while the asymmetric core provides the massive response off the breakpoint. The enormous drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can lack traction because of the polished finish. It is an absolute weapon.
