The Storm Code 30 presents itself as an exclusive international anniversary release in a classy pearl look. Inside works the extremely high-performance asymmetric RAD4 Core with a 2.500 RG, a massive 0.058 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential. For the cover, Storm relies on a highly polished R2S Pearl Reactive coverstock. This combination of the asymmetric RAD4 core and the low-friction, smooth shell should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and save all of its energy for a massive, asymmetric kick on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Storm Code Black, the Code 30 behaves extremely similarly and offers an identical, drastic backend motion. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, which uses a dull solid cover, the Code 30 delivers far cleaner length, but builds a similarly powerful hook at the breakpoint thanks to the same core engine. When friction on the lane is high and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Code 30 preserves its energy exceptionally well and reacts incredibly sharply and explosively toward the pin deck.
On the Lanes
The Storm Code 30 is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. For strokers and for those with moderate ball speed, it offers the option of playing deeper lines, since the shell saves energy while the asymmetric core provides the massive response. The enormous drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can lack traction because of the polished finish. It is an absolute weapon for dry boards at the breakpoint.
