First Impressions
The Hammer Clear Cube immediately stands out with its extremely distinctive and visually appealing design. The completely transparent surface allows an unobstructed view of the three-dimensional cube placed inside, making it a real eye-catcher on the lanes and in the ball return. Technically it is a classic fun and spare ball, built around a simple, fully symmetrical pancake core. The coverstock material used is pure, unblended polyester, polished to an absolute high gloss at the factory to create maximum length down the lane. In terms of hard numbers, the ball shows properties typical of its segment: it has an extremely high RG and an absolutely minimal differential. This deliberate construction should ensure that the ball barely reacts, if at all, to the given lane condition, and instead holds its intended line stoically, regardless of how much oil is on the lane or how far that oil has already been carried across the various boards. The smooth surface prevents any early reaction and provides a quiet ball motion.
Comparison Compared directly to other balls from the dedicated spare segment, such as the Storm Clear Storm, the Columbia 300 White Dot or the Brunswick Crown Jewel, the Hammer Clear Cube shows nearly identical and highly linear ball motion. All of these models rely on a very hard polyester cover to keep friction as low as possible and to guarantee maximum directional stability. Against high-performance reactive balls like the Hammer Black Widow 3.0 or the Storm Phaze II, there is logically no hook potential at all here. While modern reactive covers respond strongly and at times very aggressively to drier boards during the transition phase, the Clear Cube completely ignores such dynamic changes in lane conditions. The core construction is designed solely to support forward motion, without converting rotational energy into side motion. In head-to-head play the ball therefore behaves identically to the great spare ball classics on the lane, but the clear look with the embedded motif gives it a considerably more extravagant and rarer appearance.
On the Lanes The Hammer Clear Cube is the ideal, no-compromise tool for precise spare shooting. Thanks to the extremely low friction, the ball glides effortlessly through the heads and keeps its extremely straight path over the entire length of the lane and into the pocket. That makes it especially valuable when you have to target single pins standing far outside on difficult, heavily played or very unevenly dried-up oil patterns. Since it develops absolutely no hook of its own, it eliminates the disruptive influence of transition and allows extremely high reliability in spare shooting under any conceivable condition. For advanced and professional players it is thus a pure specialist for the must-make second shot, meant to minimize the error rate on spare attempts. At the same time this model works excellently as a first entry-level or beginner ball for casual bowlers, since the very hard surface is extremely forgiving of unclean releases and always offers predictable ball motion with no unpleasant surprises. When carry with strongly reactive balls becomes too uncontrollable on extremely dry or broken-down lanes, this ball provides an absolutely reliable line with no unexpected changes of direction.
