BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Ebonite Choice Solid isn't just an option for heavy oil — it's the standard for heavy oil conditions. The design comes in blue, dark blue, and orange. The ball uses the Mod-1 core inside the GSV-1 Solid coverstock. The technical specs at 15 pounds show a 2.49 RG, a 0.054 differential, and a 0.021 mass bias. The surface comes out of the box in a dull 500/2000 Abralon finish. The Mod-1 core is based on the proven Centrex Symmetrical Mass Bias core from THE ONE, with the shape modified to reduce the intermediate differential and allow easier length through the heads along with better continuation on the back end.
Comparison
The combination of a low RG, high differential core and the GSV-1 Solid coverstock gives the Choice Solid the biggest hook potential in the entire Ebonite lineup. Compared to the Track Precision Solid, the Choice Solid shows similar behavior in the midlane as it starts to grab and slow down, but it differs on the backend, where it retains energy and continues through the 8-pin. The Mod-1 core should perform fantastically in the Choice Pearl and the original Choice Hybrid version, while in the GSV-1 cover iterations it rolls heavy and somewhat more forward. In contrast to the Choice Hybrid, this ball felt more definite, likely due to some pearl in the cover, even though it's finished at 2000 Abralon.
On the Lanes
The Choice Solid should become the go-to ball for heavy oil patterns. This ball needs oil — dry lanes will destroy the surface, which is why it isn't recommended for standard house/league patterns, where you'd be lucky to keep this ball on the lane. As with almost all big asymmetric balls, it's built to control the midlane and deliver definite motion — when you're not sure whether the middle of the lane is going to hook or not, these big balls come into play and give you confidence. To experience the great hit of this core, you should keep your angles a little tighter and not try to cover millions of boards. For tournament bowlers who bowl on PBA patterns, this ball is recommended as essential.
