BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Chaos Black comes in a clean, jet-black design that deliberately skips loud colors and still makes a strong statement. The Chaos Core is a symmetrical core with a very low RG and a very high differential. The specs show a 2.480 RG and a 0.054 differential at 15 pounds. The coverstock is the Exciter Solid Coverstock, finished with 500/1000 Abralon and then polished. In addition, the ball features HyperSHOCK Technology, which should help drive the ball through the pins.
Comparison
The Chaos Black positions itself as a medium-strong symmetrical ball, comparable to the Roto Grip Idol or Motiv Forge. The Exciter coverstock comes from Columbia 300's high-performance Savage line and brings aggressive characteristics with it from the start. The factory polish turns the normally aggressive midlane reaction into a very responsive move at the breakpoint. While the regular Chaos series is done in louder colors, the Black version goes for understated looks with the same performance DNA. The combination of low RG and high differential produces an early rotation that clearly sets it apart from smoother ball options.
On the Lanes
The Chaos Black suits medium to heavy oil volumes and shows a skid/flip characteristic. The ball travels cleanly through the heads and is very angular on the backend. Its versatility shows in the fact that it can be played with bigger angles on dried-up heads as well as on a straighter line on fresh conditions. The polished surface offers forgiveness on balls that are hit too hard, since it prevents early hook. Bowlers with a medium to low rev rate in particular benefit from the strong backend motion. The versatility and relative affordability make it a popular ball, with the hybrid cover at a 2000 finish combining with the low RG core for an early start and a hard turn. On very oily conditions it reaches its full potential, while on drier lanes it may react too strongly.
