First Impressions
With the Blue Vibe, Hammer brought an absolute classic back to the market in June 2017, technically updated for modern demands. Inside works the proven symmetrical Vibe core, which at 15 pounds delivers a 2.51 RG and a 0.042 differential – numbers that promise surprisingly much dynamics for this price range. This core is paired with the CT Reactive Plus Pearl coverstock. The factory finish consists of a 500/2000 Abralon sanding that was then brought to a high shine with Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish. This glossy blue pearl surface already signals visually that the ball was designed for easy length through the heads.
Comparison Compared to the Hammer Cherry Vibe released at the same time, the Blue Vibe offers very similar overall performance, but is often perceived as a touch longer and sharper in its reaction. Bring in a competitor like the Storm Match Up Pearl and the Blue Vibe shows clear advantages in core dynamics: with a 0.042 differential it generates significantly more flare than the Match Up (0.030), which leads to a stronger hook off the backend as soon as the ball hits dry boards. Performance-wise it slots in above entry-level balls, but stays more controllable and cleaner through the heads than aggressive mid-performance balls like the Storm Hy-Road.
On the Lanes The ideal territory for the Blue Vibe is light to medium oil volumes as well as lanes that are already in transition. When stronger balls lose energy too early or become uncontrollable, the Vibe provides the necessary length and saves its power for the breakpoint. It glides effortlessly through the heads and reacts in a flash to friction at the end of the oil pattern. This produces improved carry, especially when you're forced to play steeper angles. On fresh, heavy oil the surface is usually too smooth, which is why it should primarily be in the bag as a "weapon for later" or for generally drier lanes.
